Scope of Work:  The Iowa DOT is seeking competitive bids from qualified contractors to furnish all materials, labor and equipment necessary for the removal and replace canvas on salt hoop building including the front and back end panels. Furnish and install new hoop cover and end panels for existing 1200 ton hoop building. Approximate size is 64' long x 58' wide x 22' height. Contractor to field verify existing size and attachment requirements. Both end panels to have 2 vents as noted in specification. Contractor to provide and install all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete installation and properly dispose of existing canvas (Iowa DOT has first right of salvage). Salt Hoop to be empty of salt. Awarded vendor is responsible for getting exact measurements prior to ordering materials.
Estimated project start date: 4/1/2025 (The date shall be coordinated with the IDOT Project Manager. Existing hoop to be empty of salt mid April. (This is the estimated start date after all required documents are received (i.e., Insurance, performance bond and vendor signed contract).
Estimated project end date: 5/30/2025 (This includes resolution to all punch list items, inspections and DOT acceptance typically used in construction bids).
Contract Award
It is the intent of the Iowa DOT to award the contract to the responsible contractor whose submitted quote is the most advantageous to the Iowa DOT, cost and other factors considered. Other factors include, but are not limited to: meeting or exceeding mandatory requirements, proposed staffing, and meeting required time schedule. Other factors may also include a comprehensive review of bidders past work performance, and work capacity.
Site Visits: A site visits are recommended and will be accommodated if needed prior to submitting a bid to ensure the vendor has access to view the job site. To schedule a site visit, contractors must contact the Purchasing Agent overseeing the bid at julie.brown@iowadot.us with a date and time of when you want to conduct a site visit. Contractors will be required to bring their own equipment needed for the site visit.

Davis-Bacon wages do not apply.
The Iowa DOT is exempt from sales tax.  Sales tax is not to be included in your bid amount.
