Lafleche Dam Flood Passage Conceptual Design Study
Synopsis:

Currently, Lafleche Dam cannot safely pass the recommended inflow design flood (IDF). WSA requires the successful respondent to design and evaluate conceptual level flood passage options. In order to reduce the risk imposed by Lafleche Dam such that the risks are kept as low as reasonably practicable in accordance with Canadian Dam Association (CDA) Dam Safety Guidelines.

WSA may also engage the successful respondent for Preliminary and Detailed Design, Construction Management and Closeout. A series of engineering studies, at increasing level of detail and cost estimate accuracy, are required to resolve the long-term dam safety issues.
WSA anticipates that this project will be completed in four (4) phases:

  • Phase 1: Flood Passage Conceptual Design Study and Options Analysis
  • Phase 2: Preliminary Design*
  • Phase 3: Detailed Design*
  • Phase 4: Construction Management and Closeout*

It is WSA’s intention to retain the services of the successful respondent through all indicated phases.

Due to the emergent nature of the project and dependant on potential outcomes of preceding contract phases, the project scope and contract values for subsequent phases are unknown, however, are anticipated to be significant.

*Subject to project outcomes in Phase 1, respondent performance, WSA budget availability, and WSA final approval.

Additional Information:

WSA is a Treasury Board Crown corporation within the meaning of The Crown Corporations Act, 1993 (Saskatchewan) that is governed by The Water Security Agency Act (Saskatchewan). WSA is responsible for water management in the Province of Saskatchewan, which includes managing the Province’s water supply, protecting water quality, ensuring safe drinking water and the treatment of wastewater, reducing flood and drought damage, protecting aquatic habitat, and managing dams and related supply channels.
