The Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia is looking to procure services The contractor shall provide non-recurring engineering services to perform deep rolling on a government-furnished, condemned propulsion shaft using government-furnished ECOROLL deep rolling equipment. The shaft shall be prepped for testing, including removal of a copper-nickel sleeve and machining of the shaft body to remove existing corrosion. Deep rolling will be performed on three sections of the shaft body. Once deep rolled, the contractor shall allow a sub-contractor (from separate government contract) to perform residual stress measurements on the rolled surfaces as well as two separate surfaces underneath the sleeve location. After completion of the residual stress measurements, the contractor shall extract core samples from the five measurement locations.
