The State University of New York at SUNY Old Westbury will receive sealed bids for project number #SOW02132025 titled Upgrade Mechanical Systems – Service Group Building A until 3pm p.m. local time on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at SUNY Old Westbury, Campus Center, Rm H-303, 223 Store Hill Rd, Old Westbury, NY 11568, where such proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud.

All work on this Contract is to be completed within/by October 31, 2025.

Division 1 - General Requirements

SECTION A - Description of Work

1. Work to be Done

Job Title: Upgrade Mechanical Systems - Service Group Building A

SUNY Old Westbury is soliciting bids to provide this two-part bid to upgrade the existing defunct ducted HVAC systems in office areas of Service Group Building A and to remove and install two (2) new atmospheric boilers and pumps serving heat to shops and spaces in Service Group Buildings A & B.

Part One – Replace Natural Gas HVAC unit with heat pump units

Scope of work:

• Demo two (2) nonworking A/C units and properly dispose of offsite.
• Cut back existing ductwork as required to tie into the new RTU’s.
• Demo one (1) heat coil and reinstall after ductwork is rerouted.
• Demo and remove asbestos on piping as required.
• Provide confirmation for weight support capabilities and install structural steel under the roof to support the two (2) new RTU’s.
• Disconnect the existing electric lines and reroute the line to supply power to the new RTU’s.
• Furnish and install two (2) new roof curbs, with vibration isolation and make roof repairs as needed to make watertight.
• Furnish and install two (2) new 20-ton heat pump A/C units each with economizer relief damper and 4” MERV13 filters on the roof. Include all the rigging and lifting of the 2 (two) new units.
• Furnish and install pipe and duct Insulations as required.
• The RTU’s to be supplied with a BACnet MS/TP Modbus and N2 communication card.
• Furnish and install five (5) zone temperature control systems, five (5) new VAVs in the existing ductwork. Provide new ceiling openings and access doors for the new VAV’s.
• Furnish and install new ductwork as required to connect the new RTU’s to the existing duct.
• Clean all existing ductwork and linear diffusers.
• Provide and install five (5) room temperature sensors and five (5) supply air sensors.
• Furnish and Install five (5) new hot water control valves.
• Provide Siemens BACnet PXC control panel, duct air temperature sensors, room temperature sensors and control valves. Install all the wiring and connections to new equipment. Include programming and testing by Siemens.
• Provide and install duct detectors, fan shutdown relays and install associated wiring and connections to the existing Simplex Fire Panel. Include programming and testing by Simplex.

Part Two – Replace two (2) Boilers

Scope of work:

• Remove existing asbestos on piping as required prior to demolition.
• Disconnect existing breeching.
• Disconnect existing electric lines.
• Demo and dispose two (2) existing boilers.
• Provide and install two (2) new Weil McLain (or equal subject to approvals) cast iron atmospheric boiler each 1580 MBH with a lead lag control panel and all safety controls.
• Furnish and install a new gas detection system.
• Rework the existing breeching to tie into the new boilers.
• Reconnect gas and electric lines to the new boilers.
• Furnish and install two (2) new pumps with starters.
• Furnish and install new bladder expansion tank.
• Furnish and install new piping to connect the new boilers.
• Furnish, install and connect new damper and motorized louver to the new boilers.
• Furnish and install concrete pads for the new boilers.
• Furnish and install new PVF and thermostats and gauges as required.
• Furnish and install pipe insulation as required.
• Provide connections to existing thermostats.
• Include programming and testing of the new boilers.
• Maintain clean and safe workspace.

For all parts of work, include:

• Provide submittals on all new equipment for approval prior to order.
• Provide instructions to Owner and O&M book for future reference.
• One (1) Year warranty on parts and labor.

Bids are to include all necessary labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to perform the work described above. Additionally, Bid Cost Breakdown detailed in excel sheet provided.

SCHEDULE:

Completion is to be before October 31, 2025.

Contactor to provide preliminary schedule for lead time of all main materials with their bid.
