Description

The Project will replace the secondary treatment system of the NEWPCC to accommodate future wastewater flows and loadings to the plant and to provide enhanced treatment capabilities to address regulatory requirements, including nutrient removal to meet 1 mg/L total phosphorus and 15 mg/L total nitrogen and a variable ammonia load in the final effluent. The Project scope includes:

• installation of an intermediate pumping station;

• installation of a biological nutrient removal facility, including blowers;

• installation of a secondary clarification facility, including sludge pumping;

• installation of a fermentation and sludge thickening facility;

• installation of a phosphorus recovery facility; and

• associated works, such as yard work, internal piping galleries, external wastewater/stormwater piping and water distribution, roads, landscaping, fire protection, etc.

The Work is to be performed while minimizing impact on the operation of the existing NEWPCC facility and will be interfacing with other major upgrades underway at NEWPCC.
