Description

The USMC is seeking information to identify sources with the capability to provide lifecycle maintenance, repair, sustainment, technical training, and technical and warranty support for fiber optics test and repair kit to include but not limited to hardware, software, and accessories to provide end-to-end testing of ground field-level end items.

The fiber optic repair kit is required to repair and sustain Tactical Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies (TFOCA) and Mixed Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies (MFOCA) in austere environments. The kit must include a fusion splicer that supports 1, 2, and 4 strands of 900- and 250-micron fibers with a splice protector that fits and melts over the splice. The kit must include an enclosure over the entire spliced portion of the cable when in use. The pieces of equipment in the kit must strip, cleave, fusion splice, and protect all four fiber strands. A transit case is required to hold and transport all equipment. The kit must be able to be organically sustained by the Marine Corps.

The system needs to meet Class II requirements of MIL-PRF-28800 for operation and transportation in the field environment and requires an Item Unique Identification (IUID) marking.
