The proposed expansion will substantially increase gallery space, enabling a greater portion of the museum’s collection to be on view and accessible to the public while enhancing the museum’s capacity to support teaching, exhibitions, community programming and revenue generation. The project will address longstanding spatial and operational constraints and position the Ackland to more fully realize its mission as a leading university art museum.
Upon successful completion of the Advance Planning phase, it is anticipated that the University will contract the selected team for full design services through construction.
