INVITATION FOR BIDS
"PHASE 14 SEWER SYSTEM REHABILITATION", CONTRACT 27-03
Sealed bids for the Phase 14 Sewer System Rehabilitation for the Town of Reading, Massachusetts, will be received at the Town Hall, Town Clerk's office, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, MA 01867.

The Base Bid work of this Contract includes furnishing and installing approximately 6,000 linear feet of 8-inch through 12-inch cured-in-place pipe lining; preparatory cleaning of sewers; television inspection; testing and sealing of the first two joints of each service connection; bypass pumping; manhole rehabilitation; and all miscellaneous work and cleanup. The Base Bid work also includes bid items for spot repairs of sewer segments that must be repaired before they can be CIPP lined and which may be identified during pre-inspection of sewer lines identified for CIPP. These repairs include, but not are limited to, removal and disposal of existing asbestos cement (AC) sewer pipe and furnishing and installing polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sewer pipe including, sewer service connections and appurtenances; earthwork; dewatering and drainage; paving; surface restoration; bypass pumping; and all miscellaneous work and cleanup, as specified.
The Bid Alternate No.1 work of this Contract includes furnishing and installing approximately 1,300 linear feet of 8-inch through 10-inch cured-in-place pipe lining; preparatory cleaning of sewers; television inspection; testing and sealing of the first two joints of each service connection; bypass pumping; manhole rehabilitation; and all miscellaneous work and cleanup. The Bid Alternate No.1 work also includes the spot repair of sewer segments that must be repaired before they can be CIPP lined and which have been identified during pre-inspection of sewer lines identified for CIPP. These repairs include, but not are limited to, removal and disposal of existing AC sewer pipe and furnishing and installing PVC sewer pipe including, sewer service connections and appurtenances; earthwork; dewatering and drainage; paving; surface restoration; bypass pumping; and all miscellaneous work and cleanup, as specified.
Bids are due September 28, 2026 at 1:00PM.
Bid Security in the form of a bid bond, cash, certified check, treasurer's or cashier's check payable to the Owner, is required in the amount of five percent of the bid,
Minimum Wage Rates as determined by the Commissioner of Department of Workforce Development under the provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Section 26 to 27D, as amended, apply to this project. It is the responsibility of the Contractor, before bid opening, to request if necessary, any additional information on Minimum Wage Rates for those tradespeople who may be employed for the proposed work under this Contract.
The bidding and award of this Contract will be under the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 30, Section 39M.
The Town of Reading reserves the right to reject any and all bids, or to award or not to award the contract for any reason the Town Manager determines to be in the Town's and/or the public's best interest.
