Description

The City of Courtenay invites tenders for C25-166 5th Street & Cliffe Avenue Intersection Improvements. The scope of work will include the following:

Realignment of the existing sidewalk within the southeast quadrant of the 5th Street and Cliffe Avenue intersection, removal of the channelized northbound right-turn lane, traffic signal upgrades, and new pavement markings for the northbound and westbound approaches. The work will generally consist of the following:
•Removals and common excavation.
•Eradication of existing pavement markings as indicated on drawings.
•Construction of approximately 32 m of new sidewalk, curb, and gutter.
•Construction of two sidewalk curb ramps complete with tactile warning surface indicators.
•Installation of a concrete infill strip to tie the new sidewalk into the existing courtyard entrance.
•Placement of topsoil and surface restoration.
•Asphalt paving.
•Installation of new pavement markings.
•Installation of electrical conduits, four new junction boxes, and four new traffic signals complete with luminaires.

Optional pre-tender site meeting to be held on March 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. local time. The meeting location will be 830 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, BC.
