Alarmed Anti-Barricade/Anti-Ligature
Door Systems
I. GENERAL SCOPE:
The VA St. Louis Health Care System seeks to procure 35 new alarmed swing anti-barricade and anti-ligature door systems for the Inpatient Psychiatric Wards located in Building 51 at Jefferson Barracks.
Installation of all procured door systems will be performed by the STLVAMC Facility Engineering In-House Construction Team. The Contractor shall provide all necessary components, hardware, and technical support to ensure proper installation and functionality.
Door systems must be specifically designed for behavioral health environments, prioritizing patient safety, staff security, and durability. All components shall be anti-barricade, anti-ligature, tamper-resistant, and fully compliant with VA Mental Health Design Guide Standards and Office of Mental Health (OMH) approval.
In addition, the Contractor shall provide training and system commissioning assistance to VA staff upon completion of installation.
II. DOOR SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS:
The Contractor shall provide all components, hardware, parts necessary for proper installation of and operations of a swing anti-barricade/anti-ligature door system. A door schedule will be provided by the VA upon contract award. Deliveries shall be phased, with the initial delivery scheduled for August 3, 2026, and the final delivery to be completed by November 30, 2026.
Requirements/Specifications:
Door type: Solid core, anti-ligature doors for patient bedrooms, group rooms and restraint rooms. Doors will be in-swing, handing TBD. Door Schedule will be provided at contract award.
Material: High-pressure laminate/veneer facing finish with impact-resistant core.
Dimensions: Standard 48 x 84 x 1 ¾ (custom sizes as required per site conditions)
Vision Panels: 16 x 16 integrated privacy vision panels with staff override; ligature-resistant design WITHOUT blinds.
Anti-Barricade: Doors will be a double action system including swing hinge and swing stop.
Frames: Hollow Metal frame for anti-barricade single leaf door set, 14ga, fully welded w/reinforcements.
Strike: Swing thru secure strike for mortise lock and double action hinge system
Hinge: double action continuous hinge
Doorstop: Anti-barricade 2 point locking complete with aluminum stop, key release and notch for lockset-handing TBD per site conditions.
Lockset Prep: Doors/frames will be prepped for mortise lockset elephant ear, handing TBD per site conditions.
Finish: Smooth, cleanable, non-porous surface; color to be selected at contract award.
Compliance: Must meet or exceed VA standards, NFPA 101, and ADA accessibility requirements.
Door alarms: Top door monitor door sensor housing to suit door thickness, indoor device for door ligature monitors, interface unit with monitored wiring, alarm power supply unit, annunciation system TCP/IP controller with battery backup, annunciation system fused junction board 4x cabling networks with flush mounted back box and display panel, key switch reset, extension box for key reset.

The In-House Construction Supervisor will serve as the Contractor s primary contact at Jefferson Barracks. The POC will assist and direct the Contractor in scheduling walkthroughs and addressing all questions related to coordination of training and commissioning of the door systems.
