Summary

The demographics of public school students are adjusting. Our goal is to conduct assessments and to identify student needs early and then implement interventions to support inclusion and access to the general education curriculum. The Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) is searching for assistance with an increase in requests for evaluations to determine if students qualify for or continue to qualify for special (exceptional) education services. TUSD is seeking vendor support to administer assessments in all areas of a special education eligibility consideration. Evaluations assess all areas of the whole child including and not limited to cognitive, academic, behavioral, vision, hearing, social skills, and language assessments. This vendor search is needed due the national trends with students and families who are experiencing challenges in school settings and in community environments. TUSD is searching for vendors who have primary evaluators available to conduct in-person evaluations on an as needed basis.

Background

The city of Tucson, Arizona, located an hour north of the Mexican border, is known for its rich cultural and ethnic diversity. TUSD is the largest urban school district in Southern Arizona and it is the third largest school district in the State of Arizona. The district is comprised of 88 schools, 47 elementary, 15 K-8 schools, 11 middle schools and 10 High Schools and 4 Alternative Schools.
