This action was awarded as an 8(a) Sole Source Set-Aside under the authority of section 8(a) of the Small Business Act.
The work will consist of removing the existing insulation on the ceiling (approximately 2,450 sq ft) and exterior walls (approximately 900 sq ft) of the main maintenance bay and welding bay, and the exterior walls only in the west bay of the Maintenance Building (approximately 1,150 sq ft) and replacing it with vinyl-faced fiberglass blanket insulation rated at least R-13. Prior to removal of the existing ceiling insulation in the main maintenance bay the Contractor will completely remove the existing lighting fixtures, the suspended ceiling and the abandoned ductwork above it, being careful to not damage existing cabling, fire and security alarm devices and wiring in the process. The Contractor will also provide the means for, and execute the disposal of, all existing suspended ceiling and insulation materials removed as part of this Statement of Work. The Contractor will ensure that that any exposed voids through the roof and exterior walls are properly sealed prior to installing any new insulation materials. Following the installation of the new insulation materials, the Contractor will install six new linear LED high-bay 12,000-lumen lighting fixtures directly into the existing junction boxes mounted on the ceiling of the main maintenance bay. If needed, the Contractor will replace these junction boxes if they don’t meet current electrical code or are otherwise unsafe or obsolete. The Contractor will also reattach or reinstall all fire and security alarm system devices to the main ceiling in the closest vicinity to their original locations and properly tether (using hook-and-loop strips) all existing wiring for those devices. All work will be performed in accordance with all State and Federal regulations and applicable building codes.
The Contractor will furnish copies of any and all manufacturer’s operation and maintenance manuals associated with this equipment.
The intent of this contract is to eliminate the personnel hazards of excess condensation caused by the failed existing insulation. Replacing this insulation will also significantly increase the sustainability of the Cochiti Dam and Reservoir Maintenance Building.
All work is to be done according to industry standard practices, within all Federal and State regulations and current building codes, utilizing current safety practices, skills and materials appropriate to this type of work.
