***THIS IS A COMBINED SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE AND NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE***
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing a 3-axis (XYZ) translation stage. If no alternate sources are identified, the Government intends to issue a Sole Source Award to Attocube Systems AG (Eglfinger Weg 2 Haar 85540, Germany) under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516.
NIST has a need for a 3-axis (XYZ) translation stage that meets or exceeds the following requirements.
NIST’s Applied Chemicals and Materials division (ACMD) requires a 3-axis (XYZ) translation stage that is compatible with the environment inside a Cameca LEAP 4000XSi atom probe tomograph (APT). These stages will be used to support NIST’s ongoing CHIPS effort seeking to advance nanoscale metrology by improving APT instrumentation. Specifically, these stages will be used to position a tightly focused laser beam onto a sample by moving a parabolic mirror with high accuracy/precision. Due to these requirements the stages must be both compatible with the Cameca LEAP 4000XSi APT and have a bake and ultrahigh vacuum conditions specifically 150C bake compatible. This is required to ensures that the stage will not damage or contaminate other equipment inside the Cameca LEAP 4000XSi APT and therefore will not have the instrument.
NIST conducted market research from December 2024 through January 2025 through speaking with colleagues, performing internet searches, and speaking with vendors to determine what sources could meet NIST’s minimum requirements. The results of that market research revealed that only Attocube Systems AG (UEI: GUM6Q15FDTG4) appears to be capable of meeting NIST’s requirements.
