Description

Purchase a Military Working Dog obstacle course in accordance with Department of Defense approved specifications. The item will be considered a a commodities purchase (no installation). Please see attached price list for detailed breakout. Delivery to Andrews AFB.

Military Working Dog Obstacle Course



1. Scope



This document defines the salient characteristics for the procurement of a modular, moveable Military Working Dog (MWD) Obstacle Course to support daily training requirements for the 316th Security Support Squadron. The obstacle course must enhance canine agility, strength, and confidence while ensuring handler-team effectiveness and safety.



2. Applicable Documents



- DAFMAN 36-2611, Department of the Air Force Military Working Dog Program



- ATP 3-39.34, Military Police Working Dog Program



3. Requirements



- Be lightweight, durable, and portable, constructed of a material such as vinyl that is capable of withstanding daily use.



- Have heat-dissipating properties to protect canines from paw injuries during training.



- Feature smooth and rounded edges to minimize injury risks.



- Be designed for reconfiguration to allow handlers to vary training scenarios.



4. Performance Characteristics



4.1 Hurdles (2 minimum)



- Dimensions: Minimum 36” tall x 40” wide.



- Adjustable heights: 36” down to 24” using two removable solid vinyl panels (6” each).



- Solid (non-transparent) panels to maintain canine focus.



- Four-corner support braces for stability.



4.2 A-Frame (1 minimum)



- Dimensions: At least 6’ tall x 40” wide.



- Hinged at the center, with chains on both sides allowing angle adjustment via chain links.



- Surfaces must have traction purchase points for safe canine movement.



- Capable of folding flat for compact storage and transport.



4.3 Double-Sided Staircase (1 minimum)



- Dimensions: At least 8’ high x 35” wide.



- Constructed of two staircases joined at midpoint, secured with metal latches.



- Must support the weight of both canine and handler.



- Equipped with side rails to prevent canine falls.



4.4 Dog Walk (1 minimum)



- Dimensions: At least 100” long x 10” wide.



- Elevated walkway must feature a 1” safety lip on both sides.



- Includes ramps on both ends with traction points.



- Must separate into two pieces for transport.



4.5 Window Hurdle (1 minimum)



- Dimensions: Minimum 36” tall x 40” wide.



- Adjustable clearance opening from 30” to 24” in height.



- Panels must be solid, non-transparent.



- Includes framed top enclosure supported by side posts to simulate a window.



- Equipped with four-corner support braces for stability.



4.6 Tunnels (3 minimum)



- Diameter: 18” to 24”.



- Length: 35” to 110”.



- Constructed from thick, durable corrugated material inside and outside.



5. Essential Characteristics



- Must meet canine safety standards outlined in DAFMAN 36-2611 and ATP 3-39.34.



- Designed to minimize potential for major or debilitating injuries.



- Must withstand daily operational use in outdoor environments.



6. Functions to Be Performed



The obstacle course will be used by the 316th Security Support Squadron to support daily Military Working Dog training. Handlers must be able to reconfigure and reposition obstacles to create diverse training environments, ensuring canine teams are prepared for operational missions.



7. Deliverables



Complete modular obstacle course, including:



- 2+ Hurdles



- 1 A-Frame



- 1 Double-Sided Staircase



- 1 Dog Walk



- 1 Window Hurdle



- 3 Tunnels
