APEX Accelerators are an official government contracting resource for small businesses. Find your local APEX Accelerator (opens in new window) for free government expertise related to contract opportunities.
APEX Accelerators are funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Department of Defense.
The APEX Accelerators program was formerly known as the Procurement Technical Assistance Program (opens in new window) (PTAP).
The National Park Service (NPS) has issued Amendment No. 1 to the solicitation for a business opportunity to operate a pack station, guided trail rides, and other services within Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.
Amendment No. 1 extends the solicitation due date to April 9, 2026, and updates other dates.
The Service is extending the solicitation period because the previous Concession Contract No. CC-SEKI001-19 (Expired Contract), has now expired and the Service wishes to allow for more time for interested parties to view the prospectus and submit a proposal. The Service provided the previous concessioner with a one-year extension of the now Expired Contract to continue visitor services for the 2026 operating season. However, the previous concessioner elected in December 2025 not to sign that extension, and as such, there is no longer a current concession contract in place for the 2026 operating season. Although the projected effective date of the Draft Contract is January 1, 2027, the Service is interested in providing visitor services during the 2026 operating season if feasible and mutually acceptable to the selected entity for this solicitation.
Questions regarding this solicitation must be submitted in writing no later than 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time on February 5, 2026, via email to mark_juretschke@nps.gov.
Any interested party intending to submit a proposal must submit a "Notice of Intent to Propose" as described in the Business Opportunity and Proposal Instructions, no later than 12:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) on March 27, 2026.
The NPS is ONLY accepting electronic proposals in response to this prospectus. Any proposal must be received electronically, no later than 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time on April 9, 2026, in order to be evaluated and considered for award of the concession contract.
Included with this amendment is the amended Business Opportunity document, which reflects changes necessitated by the expiration of the previous concession contract.
The prospectus is available on the NPS Commercial Services website (link provided below). If you choose to retrieve a copy of the prospectus, please notify Mark Juretschke at mark_juretschke@nps.gov so you are placed on the mailing list to receive notifications of any future modifications or correspondence.
