A/E Estimate: $2,150,000.00
Project Description: The ADA Pathways Remediation State Project comprises three sub-projects, each focused on improving accessibility and functionality. These are summarized as follows:
1. Hutchinson Hall Front Entry: This scope involves, but is not limited to, the removal of the existing circular plaza, ADA ramp, and surrounding landscaping. A new ADA-accessible plaza will be constructed, featuring an elevated ADA ramp that connects the plaza to the existing brick landing at the top of the stairs. Additional improvements include the installation of benches, lighting, bike racks, drainage systems, landscaping, and updated irrigation.
2. Mason Road ADA Ramp: This scope involves, but is not limited to, the removal of the existing concrete ADA ramp connecting the Burke-Gilman Trail to Mason Road. Five trees will be removed, and the hillside will be regraded to accommodate a new ADA-compliant switchback ramp. The new ramp will connect the Burke-Gilman Trail to Mason Road and include a raised crossing on Mason Road. Additional improvements include drainage collection and conveyance, site walls, handrails, lighting, pavement striping, signage, as well as landscaping upgrades featuring new trees and irrigation.
3. Stevens Way ADA Ramps: This scope includes upgrading or adding new ADA-compliant curb ramps at four locations along Stevens Way. At a fifth site, existing crosswalk striping will be removed. In total, 11 ADA ramps will be upgraded. Other improvements include drainage collection and conveyance, relocation of a King County Metro bus stop, site walls, tree removal, landscaping and irrigation repairs, as well as pavement replacement, striping, and signage.
All work will be verified by a third-party testing agency under contract with UW. Substantial completion will be met when work is verified for compliance by Owner’s independent testing agency, and all permit conditions including final inspections are complete.
