The APEX Accelerators program was formerly known as the Procurement Technical Assistance Program (opens in new window) (PTAP).
Program Manager, Engineer Systems, Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is conducting market research for the potential sources of a Platoon Water Purification System-Mobile (PWPS-M) as a replacement to current Portable Water Purification System (PWPS).
The PWPS is extensively utilized for platoon water purification support within the Fleet Marine Forces. This system currently comprises two Pelican cases: one housing the purification unit capable of processing 15 gallons of water per hour, and the other containing Stock List-3 (SL-3) equipment. The PWPS is designed to meet the water needs of a platoon-sized unit.
We envision the PWPS-M to enhance mobility by consolidating the system into a single Pelican case or equivalent ruggedized, hard-sided, impact resistant polymer transit case. Our goal is to create a more compact design that allows one Marine to easily transport, lift, and operate the system independently. The PWPS will be capable of providing potable water from fresh, brackish, and saltwater sources to support platoon operations.
