Nature of Requirements:

The following is a summary of the statement of work for this requirement.

The Correctional Service Canada (CSC) has a requirement to install four (4) new outdoor compressor units, along with four (4) new condensers, that are used to cool two (2) walk-in refrigerators and two (2) walk-in freezers at Grand Valley Institution (GVI).

Background

The current system using a cooling tower connected to Keeprite Keza condensers has failed and needs to be modified to ensure the walk-in fridge and freezers work. These refrigerators and freezers are vital to the day-to-day operation of the GVI Food Services department.

Scope of Work

The Contractor must:

1.        hold a valid and current Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certification and provide a copy of this certification to the Project Authority upon request.

2.        remove all existing refrigerant in the system as per ODP regulations.

3.        remove the four (4) existing condensers that are located above the refrigerators and freezers as per ODP regulations.

4.        install four (4) new condensers sized to the existing equipment requirements, including all associated components (including, but not limited to pipes, electrical and controls) as per the manufacturer’s installation requirements and guidelines and other applicable codes.

a)        pipe insulation must be ¾ inch on refrigerant lines.

b)        pipe insulation must be ½ inch on condensate lines.

5.        install four (4) new compressors outdoors, sized to the existing equipment requirements, including all associated components (including, but not limited to pipes, electrical and controls) as per the manufacturer’s installation requirements and guidelines and other applicable codes.

a)        pipe insulation must be ¾ inch on refrigerant lines.

b)        pipe insulation must be½ inch on condensate lines.

6.        provide compressors compatible with the four (4) new condensers and connect these compressors to the new condensers.

7.        start up and commission all of the new units and provide a full diagnostic report.

8.        install a four (4) by eight (8) foot concrete pad in front of the Food Services building to house the four (4) new compressors

9.        install two (2) bollards adjacent to the concrete pad to prevent possible vehicle damage to the compressors.

10.        follow CSC Environmental Protection (EP) department’s requirements for working with Halocarbons:

a)        Each unit requires its own “400 – Halocarbon Activities form – Ontario”, and each service activity per unit requires its own “400 – Halocarbon Activities form – Ontario”.

b)        If a refrigeration leak is found, the Contractor must immediately notify the Project Authority. The Contractor and Project Authority will determine the best action to isolate, or fix the leak, or both. The contractor must isolate the leak within 7 calendar days of notification.

Any conditions for participation of suppliers not specified in solicitation documentation: none.
