Summary Details
Every 1.5 years, BC’s Office of the Human Rights Commissioner (BCOHRC or “the Office”) produces a public provincial information and awareness campaign to highlight a specific human rights issue. These campaigns are designed to introduce human rights issues through challenging yet thoughtful and safe, reflective processes. Previously delivered
across B.C., via different advertising media the campaigns are intended to further the public's understanding of systemic discrimination.
This year, the campaign will highlight how the proliferation of misinformation and disinformation (mis/dis-information) is a human rights issue. We hope that by using interesting and novel approaches to engage the public, that they will be inspired to consider how and where they get their information and how they determine if their information is credible and accurate. Does the credibility of the source even factor into their consumption and forwarding of media?
We hope to produce an awareness campaign that includes a broad provincially- advertised element/s accompanied by localized community elements. The campaign will include educational resources and engagement opportunities which will be developed in collaboration with our education, engagement and communications teams. We wish to present examples of mis/disinformation in formats that challenge the public to make choices that we could measure.
A key value for our organization is to challenge participants in interesting ways which although challenging are nonetheless emotionally respectful and safe.
Further details as to the scope of this opportunity and the requirements can be found within this RFP.
