LEGAL NOTICE
STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE FISH AND GAME DEPARTMENT
REQUEST FOR PREDATOR CONTROL STRUCTURE AND COVERS FOR THE CONCRETE
RACEWAYS LOCATED AT THE BERLIN STATE FISH HATCHERY.
You are invited to submit bid proposals for predator control structures and covers to protect the concrete
raceways located at the Berlin State Fish Hatchery. Sealed bids can be received at the NH Fish & Game Dept.
Attn: Inland Fisheries, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH until 2:00 p.m. on Friday April 17, 2026. Specifications
are attached or can be requested through Alexander Sitek 603-271-1745, alexander.j.sitek@wildlife.nh.gov.
Companies, corporations or trade names, except sole proprietorships must be registered with the Secretary of
State (Corporate Division, 603-271-3244) to conduct business with the State of New Hampshire.
DETAILED SPECIFICATIONS
FOR
PREFERRED PREDATOR STRUCTURES AND COVERS
Four 18' x 150' Fabric Building with 9'7" Peak Height, 6' Eave
Bids should include pricing breakdown for equipment, shipping, installation, and any/all related
structural reports.
Minimum Salient Characteristics
Minimum requirements
1. Dimensions:
a. 18' wide (outside dimension)
b. 150' long (outside dimension)
c. 9'7" peak height (outside dimension)
d. 6' eave (wall) height
2. Frame system:
a. Inline galvanized primer and powder coated steel framing system.
i. Aluminum frames are not acceptable.
ii. Steel must be sourced and manufactured within the United States.
iii. Steel tubing must be minimum 50ksi yield material.
iv. Arch chords must be made from a minimum of 2.5" x 2.5" square steel tubing.
v. Arches must be maximum 2.5' on center.
b. Frame system must have a minimum of 2 rows of purlins in between each arch.
i. All purlins must be made from a minimum of 1.510" round tubing.
c. Perimeter Base Frame System:
i. Frame system must include full perimeter base except across end openings.
ii. Base frame must be made from minimum 2.0" square tubing.
d. End uprights
i. The frame system must have a minimum of (4) 2.5" x 2.5" square vertical uprights on the
end.
3. Cover material
a. All cover and end walls must be made with minimum 18oz PVC material.
b. Vinyl material must be certified to meet NFPA 701 large-scale test, CPAI-84 and ULC 109.
c. Vinyl material must be certified as no growth mildew resistance to ASTM G21.
d. No rope, ratchet strap, cinch strap, or double d-ring tensioning systems allowed in cover panels
or end panels.
e. Supplier must include a price for any proprietary tools necessary for tensioning the fabric to the
frame.
4. Environmental and engineering requirements
a. Wind load: 90 mph 3-second gusts per risk Category II
b. Ground Snow load: 88 pounds per square foot
c. Engineering calculations:
i. Climatic and geographic conditions must be based on Allied Environmental Conditions
and Test Publications (AECTP) - 230 (Edition 1).
ii. The engineering must be based on the following methodologies and technical input
references must be used in the certified engineering process for the building to be
considered:
1. 2024 International Building Code (IBC).
2. AISC Manual of Steel Construction, 15th edition.
3. ASCE Standard, Minimum Design Loads for Building and Other Structures,
ANSI/ASCE 7-16.
4. AISC Design Guide 24: Hollow Structural Sections Connection Manual
iii. A RISA-3D program must be used to solve member forces and reactions at support
points. An Allowable Stress Design (ASD) approach must be used to analyze the
structural members.
iv. Foundation anchors must be assumed to be pinned with rotational support about the axis
parallel to the arch. Translational lateral degrees of freedom must be unyielding.
v. The structural steel tubing shall be manufactured in accordance with ASTM-A-500,
ASTM-B-117, ASTM-B6 and ASTM-G-23. All welding shall be performed prior to
shipment using MIG welding.
vi. Coefficient of friction as it relates to snow shedding shall not be used when calculating
snow capacity.
5. Building features
a. Front End wall must include the following features:
i. (1) 36"x80" Personnel Door with window and a Door Ramp
ii. (2) Fabric windows with Screen
b. Back End walls must include the following features:
i. (1) 36"x80" Personnel Door with window and a Door Ramp
ii. (2) Fabric windows with Screen
c. The building must include (6) 2.5' Wide x 6' High Heave Duty Double Zipper Side Entries
d. The building must include a 3-Piece Vinyl Cover System
e. The building must include Stainless Steel Cables and Hardware
6. Tools
a. Supplier must include any proprietary tools required for installation of the building.
7. Warranty
a. Minimum 5-year non-prorated warranty on the entire building.
