Architecture & Engineering from Advance Planning through Project
Closeout.
The selected architectural firm will design a new Education
Building on the Old Charlotte Highway Campus located at 1851
South Piedmont Street, Monroe, NC 28110. The building will be a
newly constructed, two-story, structural steel approximately
58,000 square feet. The final building footprint has not been
finalized, and the selected firm will be integral in determining the
best location in accordance with ongoing long-term facilities
master planning. The building will have college classrooms and
labs typical along with supporting areas needed for the current
teaching environment at SPCC. Core areas will include classrooms
(32 students), labs (24 students) open office, private offices,
reception and conference spaces, work/break rooms for faculty
and students, student lounge, cafeteria, kitchen, IT, facilities, and
mech/elec spaces as needed. A loading dock will be required.

To offer architectural, engineering, or landscape architectural
services in response to this solicitation, the proposing firm must be
properly licensed to practice Architecture, Engineering, or
Landscape Architecture in the State of North Carolina. More
information on the North Carolina state boards may be found on

In selecting designers our committee takes into consideration qualifying information such as:
1. Specialized or appropriate expertise in this type of project.
2. Past performance on similar projects.
3. Adequate staff and proposed design or consultant team for the project.
4. Current workload and State projects awarded.
5. Proposed design approach for the project including design team and consultants.
6. Recent experience with project costs and schedules.
7. Construction administration capabilities.
8. Proximity to and familiarity with the area where the project is located.
9. Record of successfully completed projects without major legal or technical problems.
10. Other factors which the submitting firm may deem appropriate for the project.
Proposing firms must submit TWO (2) copies of their Letter of Interest.
In the interest of cost-savings to the designers, consistency of the submittals and more
efficient use of time by the pre-selection committee, the submitted information package should
not include any notebooks, binders, tab, clips, etc. The form at should be 8-1/ 2" x 11"
pages stapled in the upper left-hand corner. The Letter of Interest should not exceed
ten (10) single-sided pages or five (5) double-sided pages. Please email a searchable .pdf file
