NOTICE OF PROJECT

Jefferson Street Bridge Repair Project
Ottumwa, IA

Project Description

This project will consist of repairing a damaged expansion joint on the Jefferson Street Bridge. Approximately 6 feet of bridge deck will be removed. The deck reinforcing will be cleaned and additional reinforcing will be added. Studs will be added to the beams on either side of the expansion joint to better transmit forces from the deck to the structure. Work is anticipated to begin in late June or early July.

Contractors must be prequalified with the Iowa DOT in “Bridge” or “Bridge Deck Overlay” in order to be considered a responsible bidder.

Bids will be publicly opened and read immediately after the 2:00 pm deadline in Room 108 by the City Clerk's office.

Project Start Date: October 12, 2026, with a bid alternate to start on or before July 15, 2026

Project Completion: 20 Working Days

Liquidated Damages: $500.00 per day.
