The University of Nebraska - Lincoln, is seeking qualified Prime Contractors to serve as the lead builder for a comprehensive reconstruction and modernization of their two outdoor natural grass practice fields and associated features. The initial step of selecting the best value builder is to pre-qualify Prime Contractors to create an approved pool of builders to ultimately submit bids/proposals to lead and complete the work in 2025. Construction would be estimated to begin the first week of February, 2025 with a completion date of July 1, 2025.
The project scope of work includes the demolition and reconstruction of two natural grass practice fields (Fields #2 & #3) at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. The existing practice fields will have the field profiles removed down to subgrade including the irrigation and drainage infrastructure and re-built from a newly established subgrade. The new fields will be sand-based high-performance natural grass fields with new irrigation, new drainage, new electrical and communications, and new synthetic turf perimeter aprons. Contractor will also rework/replace existing site fence, construct concrete cast-in-place retaining walls and remove and reinstall four football field goal posts complete with netting and accessories. Training support features will include in-ground sports equipment, new electronic displays/timing, convenience power, drinking water, ball capture kicking nets, and wi-fi antenna systems.
It is the intent of the University of Nebraska to award a Single Prime Contract covering the work of all trades per the project description. The Owner will procure new high-performance turf for the Prime Contractor to install. Owner will also procure and install new Scoreboard and timing clocks. Prime Contractor will provide and install all power and data, footings, foundations and support structure for the scoreboard and timing clocks provided by Owner.
