This letter is to solicit quotes for tree clearing for the following project location (See Project Location Map Attached):

Swedish Immigrant Regional Trail Corridor-Segment D is approximately 2.5-miles in length with 7.9 acres of tree clearing impact area per attached Swedish Immigrant Trail Segment D, Tree Clearing Plan # CP 24-015F.

This corridor alignment is located north of MnDOT Hwy 8 between Grand Ave in the City of Center City, MN to Quandum Rd in Shafer, MN.

The purpose of this project is to clear and remove trees to prepare for completion of a 10-foot-wide bituminous multi-purpose trail connection. The clearing operation is located on abandoned railroad corridor and sections of County owned and controlled lands.

Sections of this trail corridor have been partially brushed and cleared and have multiple access/exit points for tree clearing operations.

Plan specifications identify several isolated areas where pasture fencing must be salvaged and reinstalled. Fencing openings should be closed within 2 hours of the initial fence opening creation.
The Engineer will field mark boundaries for tree/brush clearing areas designated for removal. The work shall consist of the following:

Clear the individual trees and wooded/brushed areas as indicated in the field and included plan sheets. Clear trees/brush to within 6 inches of the ground. Grubbing and restoration work will be handled in a separate contract.

Disposal of trees/brush from the County right-of-way or controlled land.

The Contractor will provide traffic control devices to erect and takedown while the work is occurring.

Contractor shall complete the work by April 14, 2026.

The Contractor’s quote shall include all labor and equipment required to clear the designated areas. The Contractor shall comply with all applicable plant pest quarantine orders imposed by the MDA and the United States Department of Agriculture. Measurement and basis of payment will follow MnDOT Specification 2101.
Work and schedule to be coordinated with County prior to work beginning. By submitting a quote for this project, you are guaranteeing every effort will be taken to complete this work by April 14, 2026. not later than noonon Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at which time they will be opened. Sealed hard copy quotes may alternatively be delivered to Parks Office address at 313 N. Main Street, Room 170 Center City, MN 55012. The Contractor will be selected and notified upon review. Chisago County reserves the right to refuse all quotes and/or revise and resolicit this request pursuit to Chisago County purchasing policy. Contract will be awarded on February 18, 2026, with estimate work date to commence following field markings.
Contractor shall provide Certificate of Insurance within 48 hours of notification of being chosen and contractor and any subcontractor shall comply with prevailing wage requirements of Minnesota Prevailing Wage Law. The successful contract shall comply with all Federal, State, and Local laws, together with all ordinances and regulations applicable to work.
