TANF Employment Services
Description:

The Nassau County Department of Social Services (DSS), on behalf of Nassau County (the “County”), is currently seeking proposals from qualified agencies authorized to do business in New York State (NYS) for the provision of employment services for temporary assistance applicants and recipients under the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Family Assistance (FA), New York State (NYS) Safety Net Assistance (SNA), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Medicaid programs. The TANF program provides assistance and work opportunities to needy families, requiring DSS to engage individuals in countable work activities. DSS is seeking proposals for the provision of these services to competitively renew existing contracts, to adjust to changing demand for service, and to enhance the welfare-to-work program. Depending upon program needs, and the number, nature and quality of proposals received, the County may enter into one or more contracts for the provision of RFP services.

Employment services are activities intended to help an eligible individual obtain or retain employment. Such services include, but are not limited to, employment assessment, employment readiness training, job placement and development, work activity assignments, education, training, and case management.

DSS is mandated to provide employment services as per 18 NYCRR Part 385 Public Assistance and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Employment Program Requirements.
