The State of Minnesota, Fish and Wildlife Division at the Dept. of Natural Resource (DNR) intends to purchase Submersible Ultrasonic Receiver.
This specific equipment needed (SUR-3 Submersible Ultrasonic Receiver) is to be used in conjunction with 15 SUR-3 Submersible Ultrasonic Receivers, 30 Ultrasonic Depth and Temperature Sensing Acoustic Telemetry Tags, and 1 Manual Tracking Kit all recently purchased on April 3rd, 2025 from Sonotronics by a private stakeholder group and is to be used in a collaborative (MNDNR, Leech Lake Band of Ojibwa, Bemidji State University, and MN-Fish) graduate student research project looking at Muskellunge movement and mortality rates in Leech Lake. In order for this study to meet its research design goals it needs to use all of the same receivers and equipment to accurately track these advanced acoustic telemetry tags. Also, these receivers are manufactured in a specific way that makes them neutrally buoyant. Additionally, the SUR-3 Submersible
Ultrasonic Receiver uses proprietary software (SURsoft) developed by Sonotronics to download and export data received on these receivers to a laptop. Other receivers do not use this software and therefore would not be compatible with this project.
