Description

The purpose of this contract is to provide research and analysis support for a technology

assessment of countermeasures and/or testing utilized in the National Highway Traffic Safety

Administration (NHTSA) FMVSS. The scope of this contract includes identifying technology

developments in vehicle systems and vehicle safety systems that are associated with each

standard, completing an engineering analysis/assessment of the relationship of these technologies

to components of the standard, identifying elements of the standard that are affected by these

technologies, and identifying potential changes to the standard to address these technologies.

The scope of the research includes technologies in vehicles currently in production and products

in development.
