Chesapeake Public Schools, including the School Board (hereafter known as the District) seeks proposals from qualified, licensed, and insured contractors to provide a a total solution for daily transportation needs.
Our existing transportation solution includes mainly routing software and tracking software. For the routing software, the District currently utilizes Seon’s Compass routing software, along with the School Bus Hub Parent app. The data used consists of GIS layers for streets, bus stops, address points, parcels, eligibility zones, school locations, and attendance zone boundaries. Student information is gathered from Synergy, our student database.
For our GPS tracking system, the district utilizes the Zonar GPS system, which integrates with the routing software. School buses have mounte d Samsung Tab Active 2 tablets, which are used for: pre-trip and post-trip inspection, various operational inspections, time keeping (via our Kronos app which runs on the tablet), diagnostic data for our shop, and RFID readers that capture student ridership (via RFID ID badges provided by CI Solutions). The Zonar system also integrates with the CI Solutions badging portal to ensure student data ridership reports and student tracking is available.
Through this Request for Proposal (RFP), the District is seeking to identify one or more vendors who can most fully meet the needs of the District as specified in this document and any associated attachments.
Based on enrollment, the District is the seventh largest school district in Virginia. With nearly 40,000 students and 6,000 employees in 56 schools and centers, the District is committed to providing excellence in education for the children of Chesapeake.
