  • Summary:The WATA Operations and Maintenance Facility Project includes the renovation of the existing structure of the maintenance area, renovation and rehabilitation of the current administrative and community areas, and new construction to house administrative, operations, and community areas.
Included in the Operations and Maintenance Facility will be the construction of a new vehicle wash bay and a new onsite fueling area to replace the current facilities. Elements of the renovated and new construction spaces will include operations spaces including dispatching functions and supervisor offices; maintenance storage
and machine shop spaces; records storage and IT infrastructure spaces; public meeting/multipurpose spaces, and administrative office spaces. The project includes a combination of new construction and renovation of existing space. The Authority will require phased construction for this project; see the WATA OMF Sequencing Considerations.
The scope of work for this project includes connections to the public water system operated by Newport News Waterworks. The contractor performing this part of the work must be on Newport News Waterworks’ Approved List of Certified Contractors who have performed satisfactory installation of water service pipelines, or the
contractor must be interviewed and certified by Newport News Waterworks before water utility construction begins. The list of Approved Contractors and information regarding the contractor certification process are available on the Waterworks website at https://www.nnva.gov/2761/Contractors.
