QUESTION & ANSWERS

REQUEST FOR QUOTATION (RFQ) No. 902673
Fire Door Inspection Services

Networking/Bidders Conference Held on November 12, 2025

Thank you for your participation and interest in the County of Alameda RFQ No. 902673 Fire Door Inspection Services.

All the questions are taken verbatim from written questions received via County of Alameda Procurement Portal. The County of Alameda shall be noted as “County” in the answers to these questions. The Questions & Answers are the final stance of the County. Please consider this document in preparation for your bid response.

Question 1: License Requirement

Would you accept a C-16 license instead of a C-61 contractor's license? When we called the state’s contracting office, several years ago, and explained our services, we were instructed to obtain a C-16 license.

Answer: Yes, C-16 and/or C-61/D28 licenses are acceptable for this service. Please see Addendum No. 1.

Question 2: Door Manufactures

For instance, the 1st door at Santa Rita is a Won door. They are a proprietary manufacture and I cannot service these doors. Can I as a SLEB sub-contract Won-Door to do the service? Also some of the listed manufactures are obsolete, in the event they cannot be serviced, is there a plan for replacement doors?

Answer: Yes, the proprietary manufactured fire doors may be sub-contracted by the prime contractor, provided this is clearly specified in their proposal. After inspection, if a fire door is determined beyond repair or cannot be serviced, the County shall be notified immediately. A plan for replacing the affected door shall then be developed by the County.
