Project Description: The Borough of Minersville is accepting Bids electronically via the PennBid Program until 1:00 PM prevailing time, Monday, June 1, 2026, for the furnishing and installation of a 30' x 26' x 18’ tall salt shed structure, complete in place.
Prospective bidders are strongly encouraged to visit the existing salt shed location prior to submitting a Bid to become familiar with existing conditions, site access, and the proposed work area. Site visits shall be scheduled by appointment with the Borough of Minersville. To schedule a site visit, please contact Megan Paul, Borough Manager, at 570-544-2149 or mpaul@minersvillepa.gov, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The salt shed site is located at 501 North Delaware Ave., Minersville. Bidders are responsible for field-verifying site conditions that may affect their Bid. No formal pre-bid meeting will be held as part of this bid process.
Bids will be received through PennBid only. All documents and solicitation details are available at no cost through the PennBid Program. Bidders are responsible for reviewing all Contract Documents, addenda, and posted information prior to submitting a Bid. All questions or communications must be submitted through PennBid. Questions shall be submitted no later than 4:00, Friday, May 22.
After bid opening, a public notice will be issued via PennBid containing any available bid results. Bid results are subject to further review and should not be construed as issuance of an award.
Bids are valid for a period of sixty (60) days from opening. The Borough of Minersville reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and to waive any minor informality.
Attention is called to the fact that prevailing minimum wage rates as determined by the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Industry must be paid by the Contractors on this project and that employees and applicants for employment shall not be discriminated against because of their race, age, color, religion, sex, national origin, or handicap.
The work generally consists of furnishing and installing a new 30' wide x 26' long x 18' high pole building structure, complete in place, at the Borough of Minersville’s prepared site. The structure shall be suitable for municipal salt storage use and shall include all labor, materials, equipment, delivery, erection, fasteners, accessories, cleanup, and incidentals necessary for a complete installation.
The salt shed shall include sidewalls only, with the front of the structure remaining open for Borough equipment access. The Borough intends to use the existing concrete abutment/wall as the rear wall and backstop. The roofline shall be designed to extend over the rear wall/backstop area as required to provide adequate coverage for the salt storage area. The structure shall provide a minimum 12' interior wall height.
The salt shed shall generally include a post-frame or approved equivalent building structure, metal roof and siding panels, treated wood or other durable wall protection suitable for salt storage conditions, and an open-front configuration suitable for Borough equipment access. The interior of the structure shall remian free of cross beams or trusses to the maximum extent possible.
The Borough of Minersville will perform demolition of the existing salt shed structure. Demolition of the existing structure shall not be included in the Bid. The Contractor shall notify the Borough at least two (2) weeks in advance of the planned start of construction so the Borough can complete demolition and removal of materials from the work area prior to construction.
The Contractor shall be responsible for providing a complete, code-compliant structure suitable for the intended use, including permits and engineered/sealed drawings if required by the authority having jurisdiction.
The project must be completed by September 30, 2026.
