Solicitation Summary

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) is a leading provider of drinking water and wastewater treatment services serving Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland. WSSC General Services Department is responsible for tracking, managing, and reporting Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions annually, including the development and support of strategies to meet WSSC’s GHG goals, and development of a Climate Action Plan with annual updates. The Consultant shall support WSSC in preparation of an annual Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions inventory to quantify the GHG emissions of the organization. The energy-intensive processes to treat and distribute potable water for public use, and to collect and treat wastewater prior to discharge results in GHG emissions. Greenhouse gas emissions quantification will also include sewer methane and nitrous oxide testing and results. The Consultant shall support the development of WSSC’s Climate Action Plan and annual updates. The Climate Action Plan will provide a publicly accessible description of the current plans, progress, and actions by WSSC to address the impacts of climate change on WSSC’s facilities and operations, and to provide an annual update of WSSC’s progress.
