Description
INTRODUCTION
Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified crane service providers that are certified to NQA-1 standards. This EOI is intended to identify capable and experienced companies for potential future work involving overhead crane operations in support of nuclear and high-consequence mission activities.
BACKGROUND
INL is a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratory with a focus on nuclear energy research, development, and demonstration. Many of INL’s projects require the use of overhead cranes for the safe and precise handling of heavy and sensitive equipment in nuclear and radiological environments. To ensure compliance with DOE and nuclear quality assurance requirements, all crane operations must be performed by vendors certified to NQA-1 standards.
CRITERIA
Interested vendors must meet the following minimum qualifications:
-
Current and valid NQA-1 certification (including applicable supplements).
-
Demonstrated experience providing overhead crane services in nuclear or high-consequence environments.
-
Capability to support both fixed overhead and mobile operations.
-
Compliance with DOE, OSHA, and ASME standards for crane operations.
-
Proven safety record and quality assurance program.
-
Ability to mobilize to INL’s site locations in Idaho Falls and surrounding areas.
Preferred qualifications include:
-
Experience working under DOE contracts or at other national laboratories.
-
Availability of specialty lifting equipment or rigging expertise.
-
Familiarity with INL-specific procedures or site access requirements.
SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS
Interested parties should submit the following information:
-
Company Overview – Including name, address, point of contact, and years in operation.
-
NQA-1 Certification Documentation – Including scope and expiration.
-
Relevant Project Experience – Highlighting work in nuclear or DOE environments.
-
Equipment Capabilities – Summary of overhead crane types, capacities, and availability.
-
Safety and QA Program Summaries – Including incident rates and QA structure.
-
References – At least two references from recent, relevant projects.
-
Please submit your EOI package electronically to Jacob.Cannon@inl.gov no later than 09/29/2025.
