Myrtle Grove Fire Station 11 - Construction

The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners ("County") invites sealed bids from qualified and licensed contractors to furnish all labor, supervision, materials, equipment, transportation, permits, and incidentals necessary for the complete construction of the Escambia Fire-Rescue Myrtle Grove Station 11.

The Project consists of the demolition of the existing fire station, site development, and construction of a new approximately 12,780-square-foot, three-bay fire station designed to accommodate ten (10) emergency response personnel. As an essential public safety facility, the station has been designed to meet current operational requirements, resiliency standards, and applicable stormwater management criteria.

All work shall be performed in strict accordance with the Contract Documents, including the Drawings, Specifications, and all other requirements contained in this Invitation to Bid (ITB).

The Project site is located at 7209 Lillian Highway, Pensacola, Florida 32506, identified as Parcel No. 11-2S-31-5300-000-000.

During a regularly scheduled Board Meeting, the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners voted to replace and add new fire stations to areas of the county that currently do not have adequate fire protection.

The Myrtle Grove community has historically been served by the Myrtle Grove Volunteer Fire Department and later by Escambia County Fire Rescue Station 11 on Lillian Highway. Due to the age and condition of the facility, Station 11 has since been removed from active service, requiring neighboring fire stations to absorb the Myrtle Grove response district. While fire protection continues to be provided through automatic and mutual aid responses from surrounding stations, the absence of an active station within the Myrtle Grove community has increased travel distances, reduced response efficiency, and placed additional demand on adjacent response districts. The proposed replacement Myrtle Grove Fire Station 11 will restore a permanent fire-rescue presence within the community, improve emergency response times, enhance firefighter safety, and strengthen overall system resiliency for one of Escambia County's most densely populated service areas.
