The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) is seeking a qualified contractor to perform emergency restoration of the Emergency Vehicle Preemption (EVP) system at the intersection of Richmond Highway (Route 1) and Beddoo Street, which serves as the primary response route for Fire Station 11. The existing EVP system is currently non-functional, creating response delays and posing a significant public safety risk.The required services include the furnishing and installation of new signal infrastructure, including span wire, poles, LED signal heads, controller cabinet, and conduit runs. The selected contractor must also install a new multimode EVP system compatible with Fairfax Countyâs existing Opticom platform, connect and integrate power and signal wiring, and coordinate with County and VDOT systems to ensure full functionality.All work must be completed in compliance with Fairfax County and VDOT traffic signal standards. Vendors must be VDOT-certified and capable of mobilizing within 48â72 hours of award. Price reasonableness will be evaluated based on itemized pricing and alignment with comparable unit rates for similar services.Bidders are strongly encouraged to review all supporting documents in full and ensure their quote includes all labor, equipment, materials, and coordination necessary to complete the scope of work. Partial or incomplete submissions may be deemed non-responsive.
