MASSACHUSETTS CONVENTION CENTER AUTHORITY - ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS JOHN B. HYNES VETERAS MEMORIAL CONVENTION CENTER. Hynes Ballroom Electrical Floor Boxes Replacement (U14). The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (the "Authority") will receive sealed General bids for the JOHN B. HYNES VETERANS MEMORIAL CONVENTION CENTER, Hynes Ballroom Electrical Floor Boxes Replacement (U14) at the administrative Offices of the Authority at 415 Summer Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02210, until 12:00 p.m. local time on August 26, 2026 immediately after which, in a designated room, the general bids will be opened and read publicly. Sealed Filed Sub-Bids for the same project for the sub-trades listed below will be received at the same office until 12:00 p.m. local time on August 19, 2026, immediately after which, in a designated room, the filed sub-bids will be opened and read publicly. This project includes the modernization of twelve (12) combination electrical and communications floor boxes serving Level 3 Ballroom at the Hynes Convention Center. Work includes de-energizing and disconnecting existing electrical floor box circuits; selective demolition of existing floor boxes and associated floor drain bodies, traps, branch drain lines, and vent piping, with abandonment and capping of existing connections. Project includes modification of existing sprinkler piping and installation of new sprinklers at each floor box location, with the sprinkler system maintained in service; saw-cutting of the existing reinforced concrete slab at each floor box location. Also included is installation of new structural steel, spanning members and header framing at slab opening edges; core drilling of the existing slab for new conduit sleeves; installation of new power and communications conduits and cabling. Existing conduits and circuits will be re-used where indicated. Install new combined electrical and communications floor boxes with grout infill to match the existing slab thickness. New fire-rated shaft wall enclosures at the floor boxes, fire protection of new structural steel, and firestopping of all slab penetrations, including abandoned piping, conduit sleeves, floor boxes, and structural steel, will reestablish the existing 2-hour fire-resistance rating at the floor assembly. Painting of new and patched work. Work also includes restoration of affected ceilings, flooring, and finishes. The work shall be completed within the reserved dates for this project: December 5, 2026 – March 7,2027. A prebid conference will be held at 10:00am on August 5, 2026, starting at the Boylston Street entry lobby of the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center located at 900 Boylston Street, Boston, Massachusetts. The pre-bid conference will be followed by a walkthrough of the site. Questions or requests for information, clarification or interpretation of the bidding documents must be submitted to procurement@massconvention.com in writing in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders and must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 10, 2025. Each general bid on this contract must be accompanied by a copy of a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) showing that the bidder has the classification and capacity rating to perform the work required. In order to be eligible to bid on this contract, a general bidder must be certified for the estimated project cost of $533,801 and for the following category of work: Prime Contractors – General Building Construction. Each general bid must also be accompanied by a Contractor Qualification Update Statement. The Authority will furnish copies of the Contractor Qualification Update Statement form to any bidder on request. Any bid submitted without the appropriate Certificate of Eligibility and Contractor Qualification Update Statement shall be invalid. Sub-bids on this contract must be accompanied by a copy of a Certificate of Eligibility issued by DCAMM showing hat the sub-bidder has been certified to participate in the public construction projects and to perform the work required. In order to be eligible to bid on this contract, sub-bidders must be certified by DCAMM for the class of work upon which such sub-bidders seek to bid. Each sub-bid must also be accompanied by a Sub-contractor Qualification Update Statement. Any filed sub-bid submitted without the appropriate Certificate of Eligibility and The Update Statement shall be invalid and will not be accepted by the Authority.
