Intent to Single Source

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) intends to award a single source contract to Mu-del Electronics for the Radio Frequency (RF) Power Calibrators for use in the Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR) Transmitter Microwave Assembly in accordance with the attached Statement of Work. Mu-del is the only approved source that has been tested for this product, the need is immediate so we will be procuring this through the approved source.

In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System Paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to contract with a selected source via single source procedures. The rights to all proprietary information necessary to conduct manufacture, repair, and test of these assets are owned by Communications & Power Industries, LLC (CPI).

A market survey (6973GH-24-00057) was posted to the SAM.gov web site on August 27th 2024, and closed September 9, 2024.

The proposed principle North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this effort is 334515 Instrument Manufacturing for Measuring and Testing Electricity and Electrical Signals with a size standard of 750 employees.
