Overview

Summary

The City of Lakeland Water Utilities Engineering is requesting proposals from qualified and experienced contractors for the construction of a 16-inch potable water main extension that will connect an existing 16-inch water main located on the west side of Bartow Rd (US Highway 98) approximately 1,700 LF northwest of the intersection with East County Road 540A and will extend to the proposed Lakeland, City of Bartow, and Polk County Utilities potable water interconnect site located at 4250 E County Road 540A.

Background

The City of Lakeland (Lakeland) has requested that Tetra Tech provide professional engineering services under the Continuing Contract and Agreement for Professional Municipal Engineering Services dated September 7, 2021, associated with the design, permitting, bidding and construction for the extension of approximately 2,600 linear feet (LF) of 16-inch potable water main located between Lakeland and Bartow in unincorporated Polk County.

The proposed 16-inch water main will connect an existing 16-inch water main located on the west side of Bartow Rd (US Highway 98) approximately 1,700 LF northwest of the intersection with East County Road 540A and will extend to the proposed Lakeland, City of Bartow, and Polk County Utilities potable water interconnect site located at 4250 E County Road 540A.

This proposed interconnect facility is currently under development as a separate joint project between the three (3) agencies and will be constructed independent of Lakeland’s water main extension.
