Description
Health Canada’s Employee Assistance Program (HC’s EAP) is positioned within the Specialized Health Services Directorate of the Corporate Services Branch (CSB) of Health Canada – and provides a national Employee Assistance Program (EAP) service to more than 80% of the federal public service. The core of EAS’s services is the 24/7 confidential, professional, bilingual Crisis and Referral Centre, the intake and referral point for EAP counselling services.
Health Canada’s EAP is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable program by addressing issues related to racism and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Health Canada is also committed to ensuring that its Employee Assistance Program meets the mental health support needs of Black public servants and their families. Health Canada consulted with mental health professionals on their network to gather intelligence on approaches and considerations, as well as with Black employee networks.
The focus of the information session must integrate anti-racist practices with a Black-centric lens and Sexual Diversity Gender-Based Analysis (SDGBA). The virtual information sessions should equip mental health professionals (MHPs), staff and management on Health Canada’s EAP network, with the skills and knowledge to provide equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive support to Black communities in Canada and differing intersectionality.
This proposed information schedule depends on various factors including the availability of our mental health professionals' schedules, Health Canada’s Audio Visual services’ availability, and any unplanned and/or unforeseen life events on behalf of stakeholders, participants, and project leads.
