NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS

Planning & Community Development Demolition of Buildings

The City of Joplin is receiving sealed bid for the asbestos removal of the following address(s):

119 ½ (garage only) S. Moffet Ave

An on-site bid meeting was held Tuesday October 21st @ 10am.

Bids must be in the hands of the Planning & Community Development Department on or before 10:00 A.M. on Monday, Novemeber 17, 2025 in the office of the Building Department, City of Joplin, 602 S. Main Street, 4th Floor, Joplin, MO. $_________________

Notice is hereby given that the Planning & Community Development of the City of Joplin, Missouri, will receive a sealed bid to make the following improvements in the City of Joplin, Missouri.

The Planning & Community Development Manager reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to accept the lowest or best bid.

The winning bidder must comply with all municipal codes and state regulatory requirements including but not limited to:

Notify the City of Joplin building division of the date the abatement begins.

Attention Contractors:

The Addendum of the of the structure located at 119 ½ S. Moffet Ave bid request is due to the current condition of the of the interior collapsed roofing materials which contain 3% of Chrysotile in silver paint on a layer of the said materials.

The scope of work covered by the submitted bid needs to cover the cost of providing onsite monitoring of the demolition while being performed by the demolition contractor.

Submitted bids must include an hourly rate for providing the service as well as notifying regular services that may be interrupted during the demolition, a dollar amount which covers container, transportation, and disposal costs along with any additional costs associated specifically with the known asbestos material as found in the report and documentation requested by the State of Missouri / DNR.

Asbestos Abatement contractors are responsible for monitoring the removal and proper disposal of all identified asbestos materials listed on the report summary as the demolition proceeds and is specified as:

  • Roll off to be set in the alley, the east wall to be removed to access the materials to be removed from the interior prior to demolition of the structure with considerations of the following:
  • 4FT of the south and west wall are to be left intact for the purpose of retaining wall supporting the yard of 119 S Moffet.
  • 6FT of the north wall is to be left intact to support the yard of 123 S. Moffet Ave.
  • Please have a landfill address or GPS as well as BOL or Bill of Lading upon request.

Further specifications are on file in the office of the Planning & Community Development Manager, 602 S. Main Street 4th Floor. The successful bidder will be required to be licensed, Bonded and insured as a contractor of the City of Joplin, Missouri. The Planning & Community Development Manager reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to accept the lowest or best bid.
