Description
As part of the broader Women’s Shelter program renewal, CFS requires a needs assessment process to balance province-wide alignment with flexibility to address local needs and to identify services and supports provided by women’s shelters including outreach for Alberta communities. This community needs assessment process will be data – driven and evidence- based to understand current services, identify gaps and support informed decision making.
In addition to prevalence, statistics Canada and utilization data of WS, data also will include mapping of prevention of family violence and abuse grant services, and locations of related services funded by CFS (i.e. Family Resource Networks (FRN), Child Advocacy Centres (CAC), and Sexual Assault Centres (SAC) )
The needs assessment process will include a process/framework to determine need, eligibility criteria to prioritize new, expanded and innovative services for Women Shelters in Alberta.
At the conclusion of the first phase, the YPFS division will use the findings from Phase one to determine if there is value in refinement of phase one reporting or community profiles and/or replicating the project approach, repurposing relevant data from community profiles, criteria and processes in additional phases of work. The additional phases would require some additional data elements specific to the work of programs such as FRN's. CAC's and SAC's.
