The Frederick County Sheriffs Office requests approval to purchase a BRING Lemur 2 drone as a sole source procurement in accordance with Virginia procurement requirements, based onthe determination that this equipment is practicably available from only one source for the agency's operational need. The Sheriffs Office currently operates a BR/NC lemur 2 drone with theSWAT Team, and purchasing an additional Lemur 2 maintains compatibility with the existing platform, training., contro/Jers, software, accessories, operational procedures, and deploymentmodel already in place. A key operational feature of the Lemur 2 is its ability to work with other Lemur 2 drones through BRfNC's mesh network capability, allowing multiple drones lo extendrange and maintain connectivity in large buildings, confined spaces, or underground environments where SWAT operations often occur. Purchasing a different drone platform wourd notprovide the same level of interoperability with the agency's current Lemur 2 system and would require additional training, equipment, and operational adjustments, making BRINC the onlypracticably available source for this specific procurement.
