County-Wide Brownfield Pre-planning & Inventory Analysis

The Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency (HCIDA), was awarded grant funding from the New York State Department of State BOA Program to complete a Pre-Planning Inventory and Analysis of brownfield affected areas within the County of Herkimer.

The analysis will focus on inventorying brownfields and identifying potential Brownfield Opportunity Areas (BOAs) throughout Herkimer County and, importantly, help determine the best course of action to improve such sites with the support of communities and private partners. Analysis and corresponding redevelopment strategies will highlight available sites and concentrations of brownfields that have existing infrastructure (water, sewer, etc.), and will provide jobs, housing, open space and other community needs. Implementation of the redevelopment strategy will be consistent with Environmental Justice Initiatives and will eliminate/reduce low-income population exposure to contaminated sites.

The HCIDA is seeking proposals from consultant firms or consultant teams with current expertise with the Brownfield Opportunity Area program and redeveloping brownfields more broadly.
