Title: Water Safety Education - Swim Lessons
Addenda: 5
Release Date: 1/16/2025
Due Date: 3/5/2025
Volusia County’s Community Assistance Division is accepting applications for non-profit organizations, cities, and schools to provide survival swim lessons to youth who reside in Volusia County. The total funding available is $60,000. The County may award funding to more than one (1) agency. All funds must be fully expended by September 30, 2025.
Applicants must have proven administrative capacity and certified swim instructor(s) with at least one (1) year of experience providing swimming lessons. It is required that swim lessons are offered at a free or reduced rate for children aged six (6) months to twelve (12) years old. Reimbursement will be provided to the approved provider after documentation has been submitted demonstrating that the funds were used for the intended purpose.
According to the Florida Department of Health, drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages one to four in Florida. In an effort to combat this statistic, grant funds are made available through the Volusia County Children and Families Advisory Board for the 2024/25 fiscal year water safety education program.
