Town of Crossfield
The Town of Crossfield invites proponents to submit proposals for the construction of the 2026 Laut Avenue – Water & Wastewater main replacement & Bulk water station improvements.

The base scope of the work includes sanitary sewer and water main replacement along with all associated rehabilitation works within the project limits along Laut Avenue, as well as surface improvements for Bulk Water Station:

1. Removal of existing 300mm sanitary sewer and installation of approximately
450m of new 750mm diameter sanitary sewer main. All existing sanitary manholes
located within the limits of construction shall be removed and replaced with new
manhole structures that conform to current City of Calgary standards and design
requirements.

2. Sanitary service connections from adjacent properties that tie into the affected
sewer main shall be replaced from the main to the property line. The Contractor shall provide, operate, and maintain all required temporary sanitary bypass systems to ensure uninterrupted sanitary service throughout all construction activities.

3. Removal of existing 250mm watermain and installation of approximately 480m of new 400mm diameter water main. All valves, fittings, thrust blocks, joint restraints and connections shall be installed as per City of Calgary standards.

4. New fire hydrants and associated appurtenances shall be supplied and installed in accordance with City of Calgary requirements. All valves, fittings, thrust blocks and connections shall be installed as per City of Calgary standards.

5. Water Services Connections involve the removal and replacement of existing water service connections. The scope includes excavation, installation of new service lines and fittings, thrust blocks, testing and restoration of disturbed areas. All work must comply with City of Calgary standards and be performed by qualified personnel. Temporary water services must be maintained when undertaking this work.

6. Surface restoration includes the full removal and reconstruction of asphalt pavement and granular base. Concrete curbs, gutters, and sidewalks impacted by the work shall be removed and reinstated to match existing alignments and profiles.

7. All disturbed areas, including commercial driveways and landscaped surfaces shall be restored to their original condition or better. Materials and methods shall comply with municipal restoration standards.

8. Work at the Bulk Water Station includes removing and replacing the existing curb within the construction limits (as indicated in the drawings), asphalt pavement within the project area, and installing a new concrete slab with protective bollards. Existing services including RV dump inlets, water hose connections, and other utilities located within this concrete slab should be adjusted or reconnected to match new surface elevations. In addition, the Contractor shall remove and replace two twin catch basins, connect them to the existing storm system, install new standard curb, and repave the adjacent gutter to ensure proper
drainage.

Throughout construction, the Contractor shall maintain a minimum of one operational traffic lane on Laut Avenue at all times to ensure uninterrupted traffic and general vehicle movement. Traffic management measures shall be planned and implemented to maintain business access with minimal disruption.

A temporary water supply plan must be provided to ensure uninterrupted service to all
active businesses within the project area. The Contractor shall provide, operate, and maintain a temporary sanitary bypass systems required to ensure uninterrupted sanitary service throughout the duration of
construction activities.
