South Cross Bayou Electrical Switchgear Replacement (TPA & TPB) PID 004906A

The work to be performed under these Contract Documents consists of the removal and replacement of two (2) 3200 ampere drawout generator circuit breakers and four (4) 1600 ampere drawout feeder circuit breakers in a 277/480 volt, 3-phase, 4-wire switchgear line-up, with a 6000 ampere main bus rating. The switchgear line-up and circuit breaker cells shall be reconditioned and modified, as required, for the new circuit breaker installations. The work shall also include the removal and replacement of the back panel and door in the free-standing, floor-mounted, generator/engine master control cabinet and the control components contained within this cabinet. Additionally, the doors, back panels and control components for the generator controls for Generator 3-1 and Generator 3-2, that are part of the switchgear line-up, shall be replaced. In conjunction with the work associated with the switchgear line-up described, the work requires the removal and replacement of two (2) switchboard line-ups (TPA and TPB), each including a utility circuit breaker, a generator circuit breaker, group-mounted devices and an automatic failover system. The installation work is located at the Pinellas County South Cross Bayou AWRF. The work shall be inclusive of all equipment, materials and work required for operational systems that are complete and fully tested.

The Engine/Generator Controller CC3, Generator 3-1/3-2 switchgear line-up and switchgear line-ups TPA and TPB at the South Cross Bayou (SCB) AWRF are more than twenty years old. Replacement parts for this controller and the switchgear line-ups are becoming difficult to locate; and this equipment is reaching the end of its useful service life and is in need of replacement. The engine/generator controls and the switchgear line-ups are vital in maintaining operations at the South Cross Bayou AWRF. This equipment is essential to normal day-to-day operations and during times when utility power is lost.
