IFB 9482 - SHUMAN JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER PHASE 2 RENOVATIONS

Project Description: The Project consists of renovations to the existing Shuman Juvenile Detention Center, which is approximately 117,000 SF in total and on an 18-acre property. The renovations to both the building and surrounding site will keep the facility as a juvenile detention facility under the existing I-3 occupancy and consist of level 3 alterations. A prior Phase 1 partial renovation was completed in 2024 to approximately 13,000 SF of the building and its adjacent site in order to house 12 juveniles and staff. This project is considered Phase 2 and work is to be performed on up to 70,000 SF of interior space to house a total of 60 juveniles, corresponding staff, and visitors. The building is comprised of a main level, partial basement, and mechanical penthouses at the roof level. The program includes housing pods (living/dining spaces, bedrooms, and shower rooms), classrooms, visitation rooms, intake area, medical area, recreation spaces (gymnasium and courtyards), multi-purpose room, administrative offices and meeting spaces, kitchen, and miscellaneous support spaces (receiving, storage, utility). The building scope includes interior and exterior alterations to the building.
