ADDENDUM NO. 2
TO THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS FOR
Town of Middlebury
South Street – Phase V Sewer & Stormwater Replacement
Your attention is directed to the following changes in, additions to, or deletions from the Contract
Documents for the Town of Middlebury South Street – Phase V Sewer & Stormwater
Replacement project. This complete Addendum, including attachments, shall be included within
the Contract Documents and shall take precedence in the case of any discrepancies.
BIDDER must acknowledge receipt of all ADDENDA on the BID or may be considered non-
responsive.
This Addendum consists of 38 (thirty-eight) pages.
1. Table of Contents: REVISE the description of the drawings to read as follows:
Drawings titled “Town of Middlebury, South Street Sewer & Stormwater Replacement
Project, Middlebury, VT,” Numbered: Cover, I-1 through I-3, C-1 through C-5, and SK-1
dated 3/9/2026 (under separate cover)
2. Advertisement for Bids: REVISE the bid opening and due date and time to Monday, May
11, 2026 at 10:00 A.M.
3. Bid Schedule: REMOVE the Bid Schedule in its entirety and ADD the Bid Schedule as
enclosed within this Addendum.
4. Agreement: REVISE Article 9.01.A.8 to read as follows:

with each sheet bearing the following general title: “Town of Middlebury, South

Conditions as enclosed within this Addendum.
7. Drawings: REVISE Drawing Nos C-1, C-2 , C-3, C-4 such that DMH-1, CB-2, DMH-3, CB-4,
CB-5 precast structures are depicted as 6-foot I.D. structures.
8. Drawings: ADD Drawing SK-1 as enclosed and make a part of this contract.

I cannot find the 8” dia manhole bases. Could you tell me where they are
located?
The bid schedule and measurement and payment have been revised.
All structures shall be 4-foot inside diameter on the sanitary sewer
unless noted other wise on the profile.

I had to bump any manhole that had a 36" penetration up to 6' Dia. To be
able to maintain structural integrity.
DMH-1, CB-2, DMH-3, CB-4, CB-5 have been revised by this addendum
to be 6-foot I.D.

You also call out 7 foot dia. Manholes on that list also. I quoted it based on
the plans, which really only called for 4' dia. Structures and one 5' dia.
Structure. I then had to bump some of them up to 6' dia. Because of the
36" pipe. Could you please clarify what is needed?

Item 3.3 Miscellaneous Excavation and Backfill, the quantity for this item is
700 CY there is nine test pits is this quantity correct or should this be 70
CY.
We have 17 test pits shown on the test pit plan, plus some
miscellaneous excavation quantity to help locate some additional
services. The quantity has been revised to 500 cubic yards with this
addendum.

Sewer Manhole (2) is being set on two existing sewer services, what is the
thought process for those services if the elevations are the same for the
new lines as they are for the old lines.
We would like to test pit them to determine line and grade. It is likely
that they are in conflict. The intent would be do interconnect them

Sewer Manhole (6) can this be a doghouse manhole with two outlets and
plug one of the outlets off when the live outlet is running.
Yes that could be acceptable however a submittal will be required
and the approach will need to be listed in the bypass plan.

Can the Town help drain pump stations / turn them off and monitor them
during scheduled tie-ins?
Yes.
How many vehicles do we need to maintain access for in the parking lot?
The Town has obtained permission from Middlebury college to close
the parking lot and require their tenants to park elsewhere / on the
street. The College has asked that this work be completed before
August 1st such that the parking lot can resume normal activities.
What do you mean by being considered qualified for this job?
Please refer to the updated Special Conditions included in this
addendum.
