Description
The National Research Council Canada has a requirement for the supply of a specific down
converter module for wideband RF communication system experiments in the QN Photonics
facility. The module needs to down convert high frequency terahertz band RF signals to an
intermediate frequency that can be analyzed with our test equipment. The module will be used in
our experimental setup for HTSN projects with terahertz signal generation and transmission
based on quantum dot/dash multi-wavelength laser technology.
Our new generation of lasers have a frequency range of 250 – 300 GHz and cannot be tested with
our signal analyzers. A down converter module is therefore required for us to detect and process the
received millimeter- wave signals and characterize the performance of new high frequency quantum
dot/dash laser-based radio-over- fiber wireless transceivers. In order to integrate the down converter
module with our existing equipment (photo- mixer, signal generator and signal analyzer), the module
must cover specific frequency bands.
The estimated contract period will be 12 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2024/11/18.
