The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Division of Spill Prevention and Response (SPAR) is tasked with implementing a firefighting substances disposal reimbursement program as required by 2024 Senate Bill (SB) 67. The program is focused on providing reimbursement for the removal and disposal of firefighting substances that contain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) primarily associated with aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF), from communities where they are located.
